Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one of the indicators to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange rate (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In October 2024, the NTP of Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 141.39 or an increase of 2.02 percent compared to the NTP in September 2024, which was 138.59.

The increase in the NTP in October 2024 was due to an increase in the NTP of three sub-sectors, namely the NTP of the People's Plantation Crops sub-sector by 3.69 percent, the NTP of the Livestock sub-sector by 0.01 percent, and the NTP of the Fisheries sub-sector by 1.19 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of the other two subsectors decreased, namely the NTP of the Food Crops subsector by 0.76 percent and the NTP of the Horticulture subsector by 1.53 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of Sumatera Utara Province in October 2024 was 139.78 or an increase of 2.04 percent compared to the NTUP of the previous month.
