Abstract

  • The Gender Inequality Index (IKG) in 2023 has decreased compared to the previous year. North Sumatra's IKG was 0.425 (down 0.017 points) compared to 2022 which was 0.442.
  • The decline in the Gender Inequality Index (IKG) in North Sumatra Province was mainly influenced by improvements in the reproductive health dimension and the labor market dimension.
  • Improvements in the reproductive health dimension are influenced by improvements in indicators for ever-married women aged 15-49 years whose first live birth was less than 20 years old, which fell from 15.5 percent in 2022 to 15.1 percent in 2023.
  • Improvements in the dimensions of the labor market were influenced by improvements in women's TPAK which increased higher than men's TPAK. Men's TPAK was 83.89 percent in 2022 to 84.40 percent in 2023 (an increase of 0.51 percentage points), while women's TPAK was 55.37 percent in 2022 to 57.81 percent in 2023 (an increase 2.44 percentage points)
